ABOUT UCMAS
Ages 6–13
UCMAS trains children to perform arithmetic entirely in their head — visualizing and moving abacus beads in the mind at remarkable speed. It's a globally proven program that develops the whole brain, not just math.
FROM BEADS TO BRAINPOWER
Physical Phase
Children learn on a real abacus, physically moving beads to add, subtract, multiply and divide — building an intuitive, hands-on understanding of numbers.
Mental Phase
The abacus goes away. Students picture a “virtual abacus” and move the beads in their mind — calculating multi-digit sums at high speed, engaging both logical and creative thinking.
WHAT YOUR CHILD GAINS
Concentration
Sustained focus built through daily bead work and speed drills.
Visualization
Children picture a “virtual abacus” and move the beads in their mind.
Memory
Stronger working and long-term memory that carries into every subject.
Observation
Sharper pattern recognition and quick error-spotting.
Speed & Accuracy
Fast, reliable mental calculation — no calculator required.
Confidence
Less math anxiety, more self-belief in and out of the classroom.
LEVEL BY LEVEL
Students advance through progressive levels, each building on the last — from their very first bead to high-speed mental math mastery.
- 1 Foundation — meet the abacus & core bead techniques
- 2 Basic — addition & subtraction on the tool
- 3 Intermediate — begin the shift to mental calculation
- 4 Advanced — multi-digit mental math, multiplication & division
- 5 Grand levels — high-speed mental math mastery
Exact level names and pacing are confirmed at your child's placement assessment.
